USA buy British minesweepers for NATO A contract for the purchase of a number of inshore minesweepers by the USA from the British Admiralty was signed today March 13 at the Admiralty, London. Signing for the Admiralty was P.N.N. Synnott, Undersecretary (Finance). Signing for USA was Graeme C. Bannerman, head of a USN contracting team now visiting Britain. The minesweepers will be allocated to N.A.T.O. countries as future requirements dictate.
