Sep. 09, 1959 - Street Cries Heard Again in London 18th Century Tradition Revived. Traditional street cries were heard again in London today when a dozen attractive girls in Regency costume, chanted street cries of the 18th century, as they gave away sausages, pies and other victuals to passers by. Purpose of the occasion was to revive the old methods of selling sausages and meat pies which existed from Tudor times until the beginning of the last century.
