Sep. 09, 1959 - Nuclear Moby Dick - Under Construction British-Canadian Submarine Design: A Proposed British nuclear powered submarine is now well under way at sponsored by British and Canadian interests. A model has already been displayed, and given the name Moby Dick'. The 607 feet long; 72 feet in diameter and designed to designed to play an important part in opening communications to the ice-bound regions of northern Canada - and her first cargo will be 28, 000 tons of iron ore. Control of the craf will be in the hands of less than 24 officers and men. The design has been developed by Mr. F.G. Michell head of a Civil Engineering Company and Mr. W.A. Crago, Supt. of the Saunders Roe test tank near Cowes, I.O.W. Photo shows Two views of the Moby Dick model to illustrate its design. It is expected to have an underwater speed of 25 knots
