Feb. 26 V. Bomber Flies Non-Stop To Australia: A Vulcan bomber of No. 617 (Dam-Busters) Squadron, R.A.F. - this morning touched down at Richmond Airfield, Sydney, Australia - completing a non-stop flight from England to Australia - completing a non-stop flight from England to Australia - in 20 hours 7 min. after leaving is base at Scampton, Lincolnshire - yesterday morning. The journey was completed at an average speed of 573 m.p.h. The purpose of the flight was to prove the V-bomber force's speed and mobility in reaching distant on outposts in an emergency.
