Feb. 26 At Last - A New Look For The Gorbals: At long last that square-mile blot on the nation's housing record, that rat-ridden, drainage-devoid, rubbish heaped pile of debris known as the Gorbals of Glasgow is getting a face-lift. As yet only one project is finished, one is half done, and the two others are still at ground level, but everywhere in this area of rotten slum demolitan teams are at work. Depressed people, overcrowded in their damp tenements, gaze anxiously at the encroaching bull-dozers - and others wait eagerly for the day when their turn comes and they move into one of the shiny-new block of luxury flats. One thing the visitor notices: in the old areas people spend their time in the streets - in the new they spend their time indoors. Bot Removed - row by row, the slums are demolished
