In London Becoming Shameful?: Piccadlly, Green Park, Leicestor Square - places for Londoners to be proud of - or to be ashamed of, or these are the places that have been virtually taken over by crowds of hippies, beatniks and drepouts. Day and night they are to be found littering Eros Island'- the area surrounding the Eros statue, London's most famous landmark, at Piccadilly Circuis. Louunging around the steps and pavements they will spend the entire day there, young people from all over the world, until the police move them on - generally to what he's become almost a shanty town - Green Park, Resddents of Green Park area have complained, and consider starting a petition to have something done about the dropouts. The Park has become a wreck, they say, with people making love, and taking drugs in public - and leaving their rubbish and discarded clothes be after they leave in the mornings. Many of these youngsters would claim to be protesting, or simply dropping out of a society they claim to be despise. But their protest are apparently totally non constructive -and for people who claim to have dropped out they are plainly making society merely less bearable for others to live in
