Feb. 26 The new Glam. Brum.: A new super-colossal Birmingham has emerged from the bombed-out rubble that was dirty old Brum, pride and despair of the Midlands. The city has the biggest building programme in the country - and hopes to spend another £40 million within the next three years. This great city of 1, 800 trades and 1, 000.000 people has been rondered virtually unrecognisable. People who knew the old Brum like the backs of their hands get lost in the new. But though most people like the mew glamour of Birmingham, the new flyovers, the new racy roads, the new super shopping-centres, they feel it's not really for them. And besides they are wondering who's going yo pay for it all. Pedestrians wond their way through builders rubble in the Bullring. Left is St. Martins church, right the hexagon-patterned car park which will be ready in Mid-November to house its 550 cars
