Feb. 28 Tallest recruit brings his own boots. Robert waits for his issue to be made-to-measure.: Believed to be the tallest recruit ever to join the British Army is 18 year old Robert Parson - for his height is - believe it or not 6ft. 10 1/2 inches. Robert recently signed up for 21 years with the Grenadier Guards - at Caterhem Barracks. Owing to his site there has been some difficulty in supplying him with kit he brought his own boots - size 14 - with him until the army has some made to measure. Photo shows R.S.M.
