Older houses to disappear in the wake of the developer. Fantastic prices for Woking's older house: The housing shortage, the hunger for land for developemnt in Maconnettes, flats and shops, is causing concern in many of London's outer dormitory Districts. In the stockbrocker belt of which Woking is on the outer Prince older house dating from the first World War, still in fair condition, have been bought up by development companies for prices which make refusal to sell very hard. Reputedly, home upper middle class houses withe an acre of land have fetomed in excess of lb20, 2000 and have already given place to three story blocks of shops and flats. Other red idents, alarmed at the way which the style and amenities of the District are being changed without their knowledge are already forming Associations to try and restain the speed control the way in which formerly peaceful residential roads with a density of up to 10 persons per acre are being transformed to accommodate up to 100 per acre. Householders are threatened with ten story blocks of flats overlooking their gardens and have been given no chance to object.
