Apr. 17 Chartwell To Be Opened To Public. The National Trust have chosen June 22nd as the opening date for Chartwell, Sir Winston Churchill's home at Westerham, Kent which was bought and presented to the Trust by a group of his friends in 1947. It will be open until the end of November 1966 - thereafter from March to November.
