1960 - The Dancing Major leaves London clinic after treatment for lives complaint: major Salah Salem, known as Egypt's Dancing Major, so called because he danced in his underpants before Sudanese tribesmen during the great Hate Britain campaign, left the London Clinic yesterday after treatment for kidney trouble. Major Salem once boasted that he was No. 1 Britain hater, and in 1953 the major, now 39, said he would rather his polio strickens son died than that he should send him to Britain for Treatment.
