Jun. 06, 1961 - New Armouries At Tower Of London: An extension to the armouries at the Tower of London, which will allow many items in the collection to be shown for the first time, will be opened tomorrow by the Minister of works. The extension is a three storey red brick building near the white Tower, where the main collection of arms and armour is displayed. Photo Shows: The center piece of the gallery facing the entrance of the building is the elephant armour brought from India by the 1st Lord Clive. It was deposited with the Armouries by the late Lord Powys and many months of work have been spent in restoring and cleaning it for exhibition. Some 600 new plates and 12, 000 rings were required to make it whole agian
