Oct. 11, 1961 - 11-10-61 Transport Minister stops for a Tea BreaK starts to work on Tyne Road Tunnel Mr. Ernest Marples the Transport Minister yesterday cut the first sods to start work on the new £12, 300, 000 Tyne Road Tunnel.
