Jul. 07, 1960 - Mr. Maples Approves Of Car Safety Belts: Mr. Ernest Marples, the Minister of Transport, yesterday went along to the British Standards Institution's laboratories at Hemel Hempstead, Herts, where he saw tests being carried out with car safety belts. After taking part in the tests himself, he was convinced that the belts are reliable and urged and motorist to use them.
