Jan. 01, 1962 - Minister of Health Speaks about Hospitals Building and Modernization Plans. : Minister of Health - Mr Enoch Powell this morning made a statement about the Government's long term plans for hospital building and the modernization of existing hospitals. Over 200 New or Rebuilt hospitals - community Care services to be developed. A Ten year plan costing more than 570 Million is to give Britain a network of bigger and better modern hospitals. MR. Powell revealed that by 1971 there will be 110 new Hospitals in Service - and that in England and Wales alone another 134 are to be substantially rebuilt.
