May 05, 1961 - Forty Two year Jail Sentence for Former British Diplomat he was interned in Korea in 1949. Mr. George Blake, 38 year old former British by the Lord Chief Justice - Lord Parker - at the Old Bailey. The sentence-unprecedented in modern times in this country-came after Blake had pleaded guilty to five charges under the Official Secrets Act. The crown claimed that Blake had been spying for Russia for 9 1/2 years - while being employed by this countryvyan Holt. at Seoul in 1949 - when Seoul was over by the Communists and with the rest of the British Community in South Korea was interned for 34 months. His companions in Prison in Korea wars; Bishop Cecil Cooper, now chaplain to the Convent of the Society of the Love of God at Burwash, Ex; Former Salvation army Commisioner Herbert Lord, Mr. Norman Owen and Father Quinlan, an Irish Missionary.
