Feb. 02, 1964 - British Truck Commander flies in. viloent fighting has broken out in Cypru's south coast city of Limmssol, the home of 6, 000 Britons. Reports state that 50 Cypriots have been killed and more than 100 wounded, In the city, there is a population of 6, 000 Turks whose zone is surrounded by the 31, 000 Greek population. As the battle flared, Major General Peter Young, the British Commander of the Truce Force has flown to the city accompanied by the Cyprus Minister of the Interior Mr.Yeorgadjis, in an effort to restore peace.
