Feb. 02, 1964 - The Pin-Up Private. 17-year-old 417988 Private Shephard M. of the Women's Royal Army Corps has received a unique promotion, she has become Army Pin-Up Girl No.1 official, when she won an Army beauty contest from 10 other contenders who has been selected as the prettiest girl soldiers in Yorkshire. The contest was organised by the W.R.A.C. after they has seen pin-up pictures on the walls of a men's barracks, they decided that it was time the public image of the W.R.A.C as being tough, plump ans unfeminine, was destroyed, and now they hope that Private Maureen Shephard's picture will be officially issued to the soldiers.
