May 17, 1965 - Special Patrol Group to Combat Crime: A special 100-strong patrol group begins operations in North West London today. The aim is to beat outbreaks of crime, especially housebreaking; by saturating trouble spots with uniformed policemen. Mr. J.L. Waldron, Assistant Commisioner, A Department, is responsible for the overall control of the group which consists of five inspectors, 12 Sergeants, 80 constables and two women constables, under the officer-in-charge, Supt.
