May 05, 1965 - Special patrol group to combat crime: A special 100-strong patrol group, began operations in North West London today. The aim is to beat outbreaks of crime, especially housebreaking, by saturating trouble spots with uniformed policemen. Mr. J.L. Waldron, Assistant Commissioner A Department, is responsible for the overall control of the group, which consists of five inspectors, 12 sergeants, 80 constables and two women constables, under the officer-in-charge, Supt.
