Feb. 02, 1966 - MR CHRISTOPHER MAYHEW MINISTER OF DEFENCE FOR THE NAVY RESIGNS MR CHRISTOPHER MAYHEW, Minister for defense for the Navy Resigned this morning over the Government policy to buy American F-111 military Aircraft instead of more Aircraft carriers which he understood to have felt to be indispensable to the Navy.The man taking his place will be MR J.P. W. MALLALIEU, who is the Under-secretary of State for the Navy. MR MAYHEM said that he would remain an MP and support the Government and Party. PHOTO SHOWS MR CHRISTOPHER MAYHEW the Minister of the Navy who resigned today
