Feb. 02, 1966 - The Army Minister Gets a Mudbath as he tries out Army Minister Mr. Gerry Reynolds, tested Britain's newest and biggest tank, the 50-ton Chieftain, yesterday - and gave himself a mudbath. It happened when the Minister decided to drive the giant tank himself over a water logged stretch of open country at the Army's testing ground at Bovington Camp in Dorset. It was Mr. Reynold's first attempt at driving a tank. He drove off with his instructor, Sergeant Bert Gurr sitting beside him in the forward driving position. The tank ploughed through a huge puddle, and Mr.Reynolds emerged covered with mud. He was afterwards wisked off for a quick bath and change of clothing.
