Oct. 10, 1965 - The Strongest Publican?: Butty Sugrue, 42-year old license of the Admiral Nelson, in Kilburn, London, yesterday offered 500 to any publican in Europe who is more than 40 years old and can equal my strength. To prove that he is a formidable opponent, Butty prepared to hold back a 500 c.c. motor cycle, at full throttle, with his teeth. For the experiment, a length of rope was attached to the motor-cycle. Butty took the other end in his mouth. As the bike revved up he he dug his teeth into a leather bit. then unfortunately the rope broke, allowing the motor-cycle to race off southward and hurling Butty, in a northerly direction. he performed other feats yesterday, such as snatching up a chair with his teeth on which sat Mrs. Kathleen Gaffney, his 11st 7lb. barmaid, and hurling a 2 out barrel above his head.
