Jul. 26, 1963 - The Great Mystery of the Wiltshire Downs is Solved: After much Speculation about flying saucers and things from outer space, the mystery surrounding the large crater that appeared in Farmer DOY Blanchard's potato field on the Wiltshire downs seems to have been Solved. Bomb disposal men from the army who have been carrying out a search of the crater have discovered a 0.51b lump of matter whish appears to be a meteorite and has been ser meteorite was only small it is thought that the speed at which it was traveling - about 45 miles a second- would account for the size of the crater
