1966 - The Waterloo Lion is on the move again: Waterloo Station's Famous Lion is on the move again to its third home of rest in its 129 years of existence. Its new resting place is on the South side of Westminster Bridge facing the House of Commons. The Lion weight 13 tons and is 13ft and 12ft high. It used to adorn the former Lion Bravery on the South Back. It was moved to Waterloo Station entrance for the Festival of Britain in 1951 and now has to be removed because of redevelopment of the site. Photo shows The Lion being lifted off the pedestal outside Waterloo Station this morning
