1968 - London's Oxford Circus loses it's Umbrella': London's Oxford Circus has lost it's umbrella, the temporary read bridge which was built over the permanent read surface in 1963 during the building of the new Victoria Underground line. Work will be going on over the Easter week-end, and no0rmal traffic will be resumed there after the Bank Holiday. Photo shows a general view showing cranes removing girders as the job of dismantling the umbrella bridge at Oxford Circus was being carried out today
