Apr. 21, 1966 - State Opening Of Parliament. TV Cameras In House Of Commons: For the first time ever, the full ceremony of the State Opening of Parliament, was televised throughout the country. Television cameras never previously allowed in the House of Commons were installed. Press photographers also were making their first appearance in the House. Photo shows Black Rod, Air Chief Marshal Sir George Mills, summoning the House of Commons to the Lords
