1968 - Fighter command disbandment ceremony: There was a parade and flypast to mark the disbandment of Royal Air Force Fighter Command at Headquarters, Royal Air Force, Bentley Priory, Stanmore, Mddx, today. On April 30. R.A.F. Fighter Command amalgamates with R.A.F. Bomber Command to form the new R.A.F. Strike Command. The parade was reviewed by the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Fighter Command, Air Marshal Sir Frederik Rosier. A flypast of a Spitfire and Hurricane coincided with the lowering of the A.O.C.-in-C(s pennant. Photo shows a meeting of former Battle of Britain pilots in front of a Spitfire at today's ceremony: (Left to Right): Group Captain Douglas Bader; Group Captain Peter Townsend; Wing Commander R.
