Dec. 12, 1967 - The Motorway Ray Guns to switch on fog warning lights: Ray guns are being used by the police of Leicestershire and Rutland on the M.I Motorway to switch on fog warning lights. When the mists come down, a patrol travels down the Motorway, and as their car nears each set of lights, an officer leans out of the car and without stopping, aims his ray lights and fires, and on come the flashing lights. The ray guns send out a beaned radio signal which activates the fog light switch.
