Sep. 09, 1967 - Rebel Rail Chief Quits. Mr. Gerard Fiennes has quit as general manager of British Railways Eastern Region 24 hours after publication of an article in which he attacked the Railways Board. He offered his resignation during a 35-minute confrontation with Sir Stanley Raymond, chairman of the board. Technically the resignation takes effect from January 31, but Mr. Fiennes will leave, ending 40 years with the railways.
