Aug. 08, 1968 - Sir Donald Hopson Home.: Sir Donald Hopson arrived at Heathrow Airport this morning after his term of office in Peking where he was British Charge d'Affaires for more than three years. he should have returned a year ago but decided to stay on after a mob of Chinese Red Guards stormed the premises of the British Diplomatic Mission, burned down the main building and sacked Sir Donald's residence last August. Sir Donald, who is 52, applied for an exit visa Jube 22 to enable him to leave July 1. the Chinese finally granted his request last week. Lady Hopson was at the airport to meet him.
