May 05, 1968 - Police Clashe with London marchers: Police fought running battles with young rioters when a protest march to the French Embassy in London developed into a slogan - chanting brawl. Trouble began when about 700 marchers, mainly in two rival factions, formed in Malet Street to march to the Embassy in Knightsbridge in support of French workers and students. The organizers, the Socialist Labour League and Young Socialist, could not prevent scuffles with members of rival Left-Wing groups including the International Socialists, anarchists and Communists. By the time the marchers, divided by police into two columns, reached Knightsbridge the mood was ugly and fista flew.
