Jun. 06, 1969 - Boy aged five sues father - gets £6, 500.. Injured in accident when only ten weeks old. Five year old John Gearing was yesterday awarded £6, 500 damages against his father - for brain injuries he received in a car crash when he was ten weeks old. the action was brought through his mother Mrs. Margaret Brodie, now remarried following dissolution of her marriage to John's father, The father- Mr. William Sidney Gearing denied negligence and blamed the other motorist involved in the crash.
