May 06, 1970 - May 6th, 1970 William Owen Secrets MP goes free Ex-MP Will Owen the 69 year old former MP Labour MP for Morpeth was acquitted of five of eight charges against him under the Official Secrets Act at the Old Bailey this afternoon. The jury retired again after the judge had asked them to give at least a majority verdict on the other three counts. Then the jury found him not guilty by 10-2 majority in each remaining count.
