Mar. 03, 1967 - Tri-Service Helicopter Exercise.: A Tri-service Strategic Reserve sreroiss involving extensive use of helicopters is taking places thorught out the week on Salisbury Plain. Codenamed Exercise Stardust, Wessex helicopters from 38 Group R.A.F, at Odiham and Scout and Sioux helicopters from 3rd. Division will work in close cooperation with ground troops. Support aircraft for supply and ground attack will also operate. Stardust is designed to exercise a brigade with a helicopter force at its disposal in a counter insurgeney role. For the purpose of the exercise Salisbury Plain training area will become an island whose government is expected to call upon a British Force deal with insurgent forces and to restore law and order.
