Jan. 16, 1970 - January 16th, 1970 MP arrested under the Official Secrets Act Mr. William James Owen 68 year old Labour MP for the Morpeth division of Northumberland, was arrested last night and charged under the Official Secrets Act. He appeared this morning at Bow Street police station. He was arrested by Special Branch Officers last night and taken to Cannon Row police station and detained overnight. Mr. Owen, an ex-miner, is the Chairman of London based Berolina Travel, a company which promotes tourism and travel in communist East Germany in Dover Street Mayfair.
