Today, the day of the State Opening of Parliament, Ian and his mother were taken to Wellington Barracks, for a conducted tour of the Barracks and watch the Household Cavalry preparing for the State Opening. They were then being taken to Horse Guards where Ian was being shown the building and where he will also had an advantage point for watching the Procession as it drives through Horse Guards. After visiting the stables of the Queen's Life Guard, he will watch the return Procession and then be taken back to Wellington Barracks, where a reception has been arranged for him in the Warrant Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers Mess.
