Sep. 09, 1971 - Former London Mayors Leave For Arizona For Re-Opening of London Bridge.Many well known City of London personalities left Gatwick Airport for Arizona, aboard a DC-8 of World Airways Inc. They included three former Lord Mayors, City Freemen, Sheriffs and Aldermen. One of them being Sir Gilbert Inglefield, former Lord Mayor who negotiated the sale of the bridge, which has been re-assembled at Lake Havasu, Arizona.
