Oct. 10, 1968 - Peer's son weds African girl: The wedding took place this morning at the Edmonton Town Hall of Mr. David Pollock the 22 year old son and heir of Viscount Hanworth aged 52, who is a barrister, to 20 year old Elizabeth Vambe, who was born in Rhodesia and she will be the Britain's first African Peeress, David and Elizabeth she came to England nine year ago are students at Sussex University. He is studying economics and she politics they first meet in 1966. Her father is Mr. Lawrence Vambe a former newspaper editor who is now a publicity officer in London with the Angl and American mining group. Mr Lawrence Vambe who four years ago caused a storm of controversy in Rhodesia when he told school children that the only way to racial harmony was through mixed marriage, this was said when he was the assistant information offices at Rhodesia House.
