Jul. 07, 1970 - New Naval Role: In an announcement from the Ministry of Defence yesterday, Admiral Sir Michael Pollock, appointed to succeed Admiral Sir Peter Hill-Norton, GCB, as Chief of Naval staff and First Sea Lord. Sir Micheal, who was flag Officer, Submarine until taking up his present post in January, will assume his new role in March of next year. Sir Peter has been appointed Chief of Defence Staff in Succession to Marshal of the Royal Air Force, Sir Charles Elsworthy
