Jan. 01, 1972 - Finals of National pipesmoking championship.: The finals of Britain's first-ever National Pipesmoking Championship, took place this afternoon at the Royal Festival hall. The competition, organised by the Pipe Club of Great Britain, is sponsored by Ogden's and Bryant and May Ltd. The winner was H. Hancock, of Wollston, Nottingham, who kept a clay pipeful of tobacco slight the longest. The winner received 1000 and the St. Bruno trophy. Photo shows the winner, H. hancokcmj, who puffed away for 107 min. 58 secs - during the final today. His number, 13 - proved lucky for him
