Mar. 14, 1969 - The Welch Regiment's 250th Anniversary. The 1st Battalion The Welch Regiment today celebrated its 250th anniversary with a colourful parade at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, where the Regiment was first formed on March 11th. 1719. The Battalion is now stationed at Milton Barracks, Gravesend. The regiment was first formed from the Out-pensioners at the Royal Hospital (founded in 1681).
