Jan. 08, 1972 - January 8th 1972 Sheik Mujib flies into London Sheik Mujibur Ramman the Bangladesh leader flew into London's Heathrow Airport after being released from West Pakistan. The Sheik, leader of the Awami League had been imprisoned by former Pakistan President Yahya Khan after the leauge's sweeping electoral victory in East Pakistan on a platform of Independence for the region. The 51 year old leader was seen off at Rawalpindi by the new West Pakistan President Mr. Bhutto. After a meeting at Heathrow Airport with a foreign office official, he went to Claridge's Hotel in London were he gave a press conference.
