Aug. 08, 1971 - Many arrested as fighting breaks out at one of the biggest pop festivals ever held in Britain: Fighting broke ou at one of the biggest pop festivals ever held in Britain this week end. Many people were detained by the police after battle between spactators, Hells Angles and organisers at the festival at Weeley, Essex. Thousands if fans scattered, with girls screaming, as the festival security forces tackled Hells Angels who brandished pickaxe handles, lengths of metal tubing and tree branches. The police with truncheons were called in to restore order. Photo shows a picture taken form the air shoring an influx of more than 100, 000 people that gathered for the weekend pop festival at Weeley Essex (normal population 951)
