Jul. 07, 1973 - Maplin Project, Consultation documents published; Geoffrey Rippon, Secretary of State for the Environment, has today published two consultation documents on the Maplin Project. They fulfill undertakings by the Government to keep the public fully informed and consulted at each stage as the project progresses. The first consultation document in this series was published in April 1972 and concerned the siting of the runways at Maplin. One of today's documents deals with the Government's suggestions for designating a new city area to serve the airport and seaport development; the other described the six possible corridors identified by consultants within which the motorway and high speed rail link to the airport could be designed and built. Photo Shows Geoffrey Rippon (left) seen at the today's Press Conference, with Eldon Griffiths (Parliamentary under secretary for the Environment). Behind them is a map of alternative corridors for motorway/high speed rail access
