Jul. 07, 1974 - Silkin Supershop Attacked: Several schemes for shopping centres of the type promoted by the Silkin family at Caerphilly, South Wales, were rejected by Glamorgan County Council about the time that it approved the Silkin scheme in 1971. A spokesman for the planning department of the Mid-Glamorgan County Council, the new authority which includes Caephilly, said yesterday: We have turned down out-of-town shopping centres of this type for three or four years. The grant for permission has angered local shopkeepers who say it was obtained by a back door'.
