Nov. 11, 1973 - Geoffrey Rippon Tries Out Experimental Electric Mini-Traveller For A Journey To Downing Street: Geoffrey Rippon, Secretary of State for Environment, today took delivery from the Electricity Council of an experimental electric Mini-Traveller for alternative means of transport. The car is powered by batteries and does 25 miles after a charge of 4 hours. It has a top speed of 40 m.p.h. The car has been lent to Mr. Rippon during the present petrol crisis and today used the car to attend a Cabinet meeting at No. 10 Downing Street.
