1975 - The lord mayor lays the last of the city heritage walk studs: The lord Mayor of London, Sir Murray Fox, today hammered home the last of over 350 city heritage walk studs in the pavement outside the Royal exchange. The specially designed studs mark the routes of two city walks. along which are some of the city's most well-known buildings - Bank, the monument, smithfield and Guildhall and wren churches. After the stud laying the lord mayor opened the Building the city heritage exhibition in the guildhall art gallery. photo shows The lord mayor shows the last stud before laying it outside the Royal exchange today
