May 05, 1975 - Defence Secretary flies in Harrier Jump jet: The Government yesterday gave the go-ahead for a new sea-going version of Britain's revolutionary Harrier Jump jet. It will cost between £60 million and £100 million to give the Navy 25 of the vertical take-off planes to operate from cruisers by the end of the decade.
