Jan. 07, 1975 - Appeal to keep album of Photographs: The photography is sponsoring an appeal aimed at raising52, 000 - the sum needed to allow the National Portrait Gallery to buy the unique album of photographs by Julia Margaret Cameron, which she presented to Sir John Herschel almost a century ago. The album was put up for sale at Setheby's Belgravin in October, and was bought by American collector Sam Wagstaff. Unless sufficient money can be raised within the next few weeks the album, containing 94 portraits, many featuring famous Victorians will become an American Possession, and will be lost to the people of Britain.
